Some time ago, many babies asked Xiaoxin how far their car can actually run. Today, I'll teach you how to calculate the range of electric vehicles.
Generally speaking, the two most direct factors affecting the endurance of electric vehicles are the size of batteries and motors, so as long as we know these two items, we can estimate the endurance of electric vehicles.

1、 Battery capacity
Generally, the specifications of electric vehicle batteries are mainly 48V, 60V and 72V. These parameters represent the battery voltage. If you want to know the battery capacity, it is not enough to rely on the voltage alone. Careful car owners will find that the battery will generally write 48v12ah or 48v20ah, and the ampere hour behind represents the electric vehicle current. When the voltage is constant, the greater the current, the stronger the power, and the higher the battery capacity.

The specific calculation method of battery capacity is:
Battery capacity = rated voltage x rated current
48v20ah Battery Specification battery capacity 960W
60v20ah Battery Specification battery capacity 1200W
72v32an Battery Specification battery capacity 2304w

The battery capacity represents how many watts the electric vehicle stores, which also determines the upper limit of the driving mileage. In addition, the power of the motor should be considered, which determines the power and speed of the electric vehicle.

2、 Motor power
Now on the market, 48V battery manufacturers are equipped with 350W and 400W motors, and the maximum driving speed is about 25km. The 60V battery manufacturer is equipped with 800W motor, and the maximum speed is about 40km. The 72V manufacturer is equipped with 1000W motor, and the maximum speed is about 45km.

Knowing the battery capacity and motor power, we can calculate how long the electric vehicle can run at the most ideal speed:
Electric vehicle driving time = (battery capacity watts / motor power) total mileage = time * speed
If it is 48v20ah and the motor is 400W, it can drive for 2.74 hours and the mileage is 60 kilometers
If it is 60W, the driving range is 60ah, and if it is 60W, the driving range is 800ah
If it is 72v32ah and the motor is 1000W, it can drive for 2.3 hours and the mileage is 103.5km

The above is the endurance of the ideal environment of electric vehicles. The actual endurance is related to the efficiency of converting electric energy into kinetic energy. For a good motor brand, the loss of converting electric energy into kinetic energy is less, which also means higher efficiency.

3、 How to distinguish motor brands
In practice, there is a certain gap between the theoretical range and the actual mileage, that is to say, it is 68 kilometers in theory, and there may be no electricity after running 50 kilometers. In the process of converting electric energy into kinetic energy, there will be some energy loss.

In other words, 100% of the electric energy is converted into kinetic energy through the motor, and the result may be 80%, 70% or less. Therefore, when you buy an electric vehicle, you must have some knowledge of the motor in advance (Bosch, Quanshun, Jin Yuxing, Xingwei motor, hendilong and aneda motor have good actual performance). Ask more about the brand of the motor, such as some miscellaneous motors. Even if you replace it with a brand-new Changxin battery, you can't go far.

4、 How to choose an electric car with a long range
1. The battery specification should meet the requirements. Generally, for vehicles with a range of more than 60 kilometers, the battery should be at least 48v20ah.
2. The motor power should be small. Under the condition of meeting the riding requirements, the speed difference between 500W and 600W motors is not much. Try to choose 500W motors for longer endurance.
3. Looking at the weight of the electric vehicle, the heavier the electric vehicle, the greater the motor load and the higher the power consumption. The electric vehicle with the same size of battery and motor must have a long range of light weight.
